Admissions & Getting Started

Admissions can be initiated by your doctor, hospital discharge planner, case manager, or directly by you or your family. Contact our admissions team at 033 815 1600. We'll need medical records, diagnosis information, and insurance details to begin the process. See our Admissions Process page for detailed steps.

Once we receive all necessary documentation, the admissions process typically takes 24-48 hours. This includes medical review, insurance authorization (if required), and bed assignment. In urgent cases, we can expedite the process for faster admission.

We specialize in rehabilitation for stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic conditions (joint replacements, fractures), neurological disorders (Parkinson's, MS), post-surgical recovery, and general debility. View our complete list on the Conditions We Treat page.

Yes, we can accommodate emergency transfers from acute care hospitals. Contact our admissions team immediately at 033 815 1600, and we'll work to expedite the process based on medical necessity and bed availability.

Insurance & Billing

We accept all major South African medical aids including Discovery, Bonitas, Momentum, Medshield, Bestmed, Fedhealth, Profmed, GEMS, POLMED, and many others. We're registered with the Council for Medical Schemes. See our Insurance & Billing page for complete details.

This depends on your medical aid plan. Some plans have co-payments (e.g., 20% of daily costs), and there may be shortfalls if our rates exceed your plan's reimbursement rates. We'll provide a clear estimate of any out-of-pocket costs before admission.

Yes, we offer flexible payment arrangements for patients without medical aid coverage. Contact our billing department to discuss payment plan options that work for your situation. We provide detailed cost estimates before admission.

Our admissions team handles all medical aid authorization requests on your behalf. We submit the necessary documentation and follow up with your medical aid to ensure approval before your admission date.

Treatment & Therapy

This depends on your program. Acute rehabilitation patients typically receive 3-4 hours of therapy daily across multiple disciplines. Sub-acute patients receive 1-2 hours daily. Your specific therapy schedule is customized to your needs and tolerance. See What to Expect for more details.

We offer physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, hydrotherapy (heated pool), nutritional therapy, and psychological support. Most patients work with multiple therapists as part of a coordinated multidisciplinary team approach.

Length of stay varies by condition and progress. Typical stays are: Acute rehabilitation (2-4 weeks), Sub-acute care (1-3 weeks), Medical recovery (1-2 weeks). Your team reviews your progress regularly and adjusts your discharge plan accordingly.

Therapists are assigned based on your specific needs, condition, and scheduling. However, if you have concerns about your therapy team, please speak with our rehabilitation manager, and we'll address your preferences whenever possible.

Saturday morning therapy sessions are available for appropriate patients. Sundays are generally rest days, though nursing staff are available 24/7 for medical care and assistance. Your therapy schedule will be discussed with you upon admission.

Facilities & Accommodation

Yes, we offer both private and semi-private (2-bed) rooms based on availability and your medical aid coverage. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, television, climate control, and call bells. Room preferences can be discussed during the admissions process.

Yes, WiFi is available throughout the facility for patients and visitors. You'll receive connection details upon admission.

Yes, you're welcome to bring assistive devices you currently use. However, our therapists may recommend different equipment as part of your rehabilitation. We have wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices available if needed.

Yes, we have on-site parking available for visitors at no charge. The parking area is secure and monitored. Additional street parking is also available nearby.

Visitors & Family

General visiting hours are 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM daily. However, we encourage family involvement in rehabilitation, so flexible visiting arrangements can be made. Please check with nursing staff about specific therapy times to avoid disruptions.

To ensure patient comfort and safety, we recommend limiting visitors to 2-3 people at a time. In semi-private rooms, please be considerate of your roommate. Larger family gatherings can be accommodated in our family lounge areas.

Yes, children are welcome to visit with adult supervision. Please ensure young visitors are well-supervised and quiet to respect other patients' needs for rest and recovery.

Absolutely! We encourage family participation in therapy. Your therapists will include family members in training sessions, especially as you prepare for discharge. This helps ensure continuity of care when you return home.

Overnight stays are generally not necessary as we have 24/7 nursing staff. However, in special circumstances (e.g., patients with severe cognitive impairments or for end-of-life care), arrangements can be made. Please discuss this with the nursing manager.

Discharge & After Care

Your multidisciplinary team meets regularly to review your progress. You'll be ready for discharge when you've met your rehabilitation goals, can safely manage at home (or in another appropriate setting), and have necessary support services in place. Discharge planning begins on admission day.

Most patients continue outpatient therapy after discharge. Our social worker and therapists will arrange referrals to community therapists or outpatient services. We'll provide detailed home exercise programs and equipment recommendations.

Your occupational therapist will assess your home environment and recommend necessary equipment (e.g., grab bars, raised toilet seat, shower chair). We'll provide a detailed equipment list and help arrange purchases through medical suppliers.

Yes, therapeutic home visits can be arranged with your occupational therapist. These visits help identify potential safety issues and allow you to practice skills in your actual home environment before final discharge.

You'll receive contact information for follow-up care at discharge. For medical concerns, contact your doctor or our facility. For therapy questions, you can contact the specific therapist who worked with you. In emergencies, always call 10111 or go to the nearest emergency department.
